PC2 Facilities

The CMCA now has PC2 certified facilities and instrumentation:

The PC2 certified facilities ONLY include:

Cryopreparation suite (Crawley - Room 1.74)
Leica Multiphoton Confocal Microscope (Crawley - Room 1.74a)

Additional PC2 facilities at QEII will be established soon - watch this space.

*Please note, any viable pathogenic PC2 samples that pose an aerosol risk cannot enter CMCA at all*

How do I access the PC2 facilities?

People with PC2 samples who wish to utilise these instruments, must satisfy the below requirements BEFORE using any of the PC2 facilities:

- Be a registered CMCA user and completed the appropriate training courses / workshops.

- Provided a written protocol detailing sample transport and handling in CMCA, hazards / risks associated with the samples, and management of these risks (including prevention and clean up), which must also be approved by the relevant CMCA academic(s).

- Undertaken a PC2 laboratory induction.

What if I want to use the Leica Multiphoton, but do not have PC2 samples?

All users of the above listed equipment who do not have PC2 samples will continue to access and use the equipment as normal. No additional information or training is needed.

All queries and PC2 induction queries should be directed to the CMCA laboratory manager, Steve Parry.

*Please note: PC2 is not available for any facilities other than those listed above*
