Chemical Lab Access

Anyone entering the Chemical laboratory must be authorised to do so and must be a CMCA User

- From January 2005 anyone needing to enter the chemical laboratory must have completed a laboratory induction first. Contact Steve Parry or John Murphy to arrange for your induction.

- The CMCA only supplies certain chemicals and products with regard to sample preparation. Please see the downloadable list for these products. If you require items not provided, you should check out the suppliers listed below, or contact the Laboratory Manager, Steve Parry for additional information.

- Please note access to sample preparation facilities (excluding sample coating) are included with subscription access but are not included in the CMCA hourly charge and are an additional charge.

- An excellent resource for chemical information and MSDS, can be found here.

- All chemicals and solutions not in their original container must now have an official Chem-Alert Label attached. Please see John Murphy or Lyn Kirilak for more information.

Users please note:

- All listed items are for use within the CMCA, and will not be supplied for preparation to be conducted in other laboratories.

- To have access to any of the listed items, you must be a current registered user of the CMCA. Contact Dana Crisan to register.

- Any usage of consumables above ‘reasonable’ amounts will incur an additional charge. This is particularly relevant to c-coated grids. Contact Steve Parry if you have any queries.

- Chemicals that are brought into the CMCA must come with an MSDS and be recorded by the Laboratory Manager, Steve Parry BEFORE USE.

- The CMCA does not provide forceps, specialist chemicals, diamond knives or CD’s for data storage.

- Users must not leave any samples within the CMCA without express permission from a CMCA staff member. Otherwise samples will be disposed of.

- A list of the CMCA's major sample preparation equipment can be found here.
