As of 1 July 2011, the mass spectrometry (MS), nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry (NMR) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) facilities, previously provided by BBCS, have been transferred to CMCA operation and management, under the name CMCA@Bayliss.

Answers to your questions about the transition can be found on this page. If you can't find the information you need, contact the CMCA office so we can respond to your query and update the page for other visitors.

CMCA has agreed to honour the existing BBCS rates structure, practices and costs until the end of 2011. This includes an annual subscription based on the calendar year.

    • External users who register for a subscription will be invoiced by a University tax invoice following completion of a new user meeting.
    • External users who register for the per sample rates will be invoiced monthly in arrears by a University tax invoice.

    Training

Can I be trained to use CMCA@Bayliss instruments?

Yes, you can be trained one-on-one to use the mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance facilities. The introduction of courses to align with existing CMCA training practices will be part of the transition over the next 18 months.

Users will generally not be trained on the X-ray diffractometers as training requirements are extensive.
