The High Frequency Ultrasound has a wide range of protocols available to study blood flow, localization, and direction, tissue motion over time, presence of molecular biomarkers, anatomy and size of 2D, 3D and 4D regions and cardiac and vascular strain. Our high frequency ultrasound systems give you high resolution - down to 30 µm while imaging depths up to 3cm at frame rates up to 10,000 fps.

The Photoacoustic Imaging helps to study blood oxygen saturation and total haemoglobin, characteristics of nanoparticles, dyes and other contrast agents, drug delivery and pharmacokinetic analysis, micro distribution of biomarkers, cell tracking, and better understand complex disease mechanisms. Some of the advantages of this technology are real-time co-registration of molecular events with anatomy, high resolution oxygen saturation maps for hypoxia and ischemia and multi-target detection and quantification from one live scan! You can image in vivo tissue down to 2 cm in depth in real time and with a resolution down to 45 μm!

Animal Care

The NIF Bioimaging Facility is committed to maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare. We operate in collaboration with Animal Care Services who provide pre and post imaging care.

All animal imaging procedures require approval from the UWA Animal Ethics Committee which incorporates a pre-submission discussion with both Animal Care and Veterinary Services and Bioimaging Facility staff.
